An important component of the CSUS NSF/ITEST program is mentoring.
We built our mentoring program around the mutal mentoring
model, and all of our college student mentors receive training in
mentoring theory and practice. The mentoring program is led by
Dr. Kimberly Gordon Biddle.
Mentors visit the high school classrooms at regular intervals during
the Fall and Spring semester, during the summer session at the
Sac State campus, and during the annual Bonding event.
Mentoring has been shown to provide many benefits to students -
both for the mentors and the mentees. Our aim is for the mentoring
to enhance student motivation, confidence, college preparedness,
and to provide a way for students to get their questions answered
about college life and college success.
