Welcome to the CSUS NSF ITEST Mentoring with Games (C-Gamers) Website!
Sacramento State Department of Computer Science, College of Education,
and the Sacramento STEM Alliance have implemented an innovative computer
science curriculum that emphasizes computer graphics, game development, and
social relevance with the goal of motivating and preparing high school
students to study computer science in college. The program also includes
mentoring, motivation, and pedagogical enhancements to support the students
socially and emotionally while they learn scientific concepts and
technical skills.

Our Grant Union High School cohort completed their math-based instructional
game, featuring a cute penguin named "Junior" and written in Java.
The game was delivered to students at Fairbanks Elementary School. Delivery
was led by students from Norwood Middle School, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Middle School. The middle school students also served as software testers.
The game was a big hit!

Our C.K. McClatchy High School cohort completed their math-based instructional
game, featuring a lively and colorful "island" theme and written in Java.
The game was delivered to students at Father Keith B. Kenny Elementary School.
Delivery was led by students from Cal Middle School, who had also served as
software testers. The game was a big hit!
